HourRing — a focus timer for one topic at a time
HourRing is a free focus timer that runs one topic at a time, alternating work and break intervals, and reports where your time actually went. No sign-up, and your data never leaves your device.
Most timers hand you a task list and let you collect a dozen things you are not doing. HourRing asks one question instead — what will you focus on? — and then gets out of the way: a ring, the time left, and the round you are on. When the interval ends it tells you in four ways at once, because a sound alone is easy to miss.
What you get
- Two modes: a plain countdown, or repeating work and break intervals
- Every duration is yours to set, including how many rounds come before a long break
- A report of the time you actually spent per topic — pauses excluded, planned time ignored
- A small always-on-top window for when the main window is minimised
- Works offline, installs like an app, and costs nothing
Questions people ask
- What is HourRing?
- HourRing is a free web app that times one topic at a time. You write down what you are about to work on, and it alternates work intervals with short and long breaks, counts the rounds you finish, and shows a report of where your time went.
- Is HourRing free?
- Yes. Every feature described here is free, and there is nothing to install or subscribe to.
- Do I need an account?
- No. There is no sign-up, no login and no email required. Open the page and start.
- Where is my data stored?
- Everything stays in your own browser, in local storage on the device you are using. There is no server and no database, so your topics and timings are never uploaded anywhere. Clearing your browser data deletes them, which is why the report can be exported as CSV or JSON.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes. HourRing is a progressive web app, so it can be installed on a computer or phone and keeps working without a connection.
- Can I see how much time I actually spent?
- Yes. HourRing records the time that actually elapsed, not the time you planned, and pauses do not count. The report breaks the day down by topic and shows which hours you focused in.
- Can I keep the timer visible while I work in another app?
- Yes. On Chrome and Edge on a computer you can open a small always-on-top window that keeps the clock, the round count and a pause button visible while the main window is minimised.
- What languages does HourRing support?
- English and Thai. The language is detected from your browser and can be changed at any time in the settings.
